 Joseph Kwok, FPAS President

“The aftermath of the global financial crisis in 2008 has raised the consumers’ expectation of financial advisers, as they look upon the advisers to help attain their financial goals. Thus, FPAS aims to raise the professionalism through the Financial Planner Awards to recognise outstanding financial advisers who demonstrate excellent financial planning skills and uphold best practices. A research by Financial Planning Standards Board has shown that consumers who work with a financial professional generally feel better prepared to achieve their financial goals and rate a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) “excellent” ratings on all key characteristics including honesty and integrity. They feel secured engaging a CFP practitioner as their financial advisers. Through more of such initiatives and financial literacy outreach, FPAS hope to empower Singaporeans for a brighter and secure future.”

Rachie Hui, Deputy CEO, IBF

“Notwithstanding the plethora of investment products and alternative platforms to choose from, there is a human side that differentiates financial advisory. Financial advisors are in a unique position to help their clients to think through their ambitions alongside their values, lifestyle preferences and financial constraints. A good financial plan should demonstrate the adviser’s critical thinking and abilities to address clients’ existing concerns and pre-empt potential future problems, such as liquidity and risk/return. I hope that this inaugural Financial Planner Award will draw attention to the craft of financial planning through the recognition of organizations and people who have done well, and encourage others to follow likewise in developing capabilities to support a robust Financial Planning process. ”
